Our goal is to handle all of the technical details so you can focus on the excitement of moving to a new country.

International Moving Service Options:

Depending on what your move is looking like, Braha offers two full service options.

In addition to Braha handling all the details with the international carriers to transport your belongings overseas, you also have a choice of service.

Braha professionals will either complete a Door-to-Door service or a Door-to-Port service.

Depending on where you are moving and what your needs are once you get there, call us to see which service is best for you.

Door-to-Door Service

Door-to-Door Service allows Braha to help you in every step of the way as you move overseas.

Our professionals will be with you to ensure complete coordination of your move.

With this option, Braha will move your belongings out of your original space and into the freight containers.

We will handle all the details of coordinating your belongings to travel from the U.S. port to the port of your destination country.

Once the container with your belongings arrive in your destination country, Braha professionals will move your belongings from the container at the port to your new home.

A Door-to-Door Service with Braha will move you out of your original place and right into your next home in your new country of residence.

This is also the best option for those who do not wish to coordinate with a local moving service in the destination country.

Door-to-Port Service

The second option available for clients is Door-to-Port.

With Door-to-Port Service, Braha will manage the transportation of your belongings from being packed up and moved out of your current place and to the port of your destination country.

Once your belongings arrive to your new country of residence, you will have to coordinate moving into your new home with a local service.

Up until we deliver your belongings to your new home country, Braha professionals will handle all moving details and coordination with the overseas transportation.

With Door-to-Port Service, you must plan in advance and coordinate with a local moving company to meet the freight at the port to then be moved into your new home.

I'm Moving to a New Country...
Where Do I Start?

Traveling to a different country is stressful enough… moving to a new country is debatably the most complex transition to plan and execute.

Braha is ready to be there for you each step of the way when it comes to packing, transporting, and unpacking all of your belongings - but there are many more steps that go into an international move.

To make things even easier for you...

We have listed out a few big tasks that are necessary to plan and prepare for when gearing up for your big move.

Review this list of tips and reminders to ensure successful international moving.

Know Where You're Moving

First things first, connect with a local real estate agency in your destination country.  Getting a feel for the various neighborhoods that exist will give you a better idea as to which one is the best fit for you.

Gaining perspective on the area and knowing you are in the neighborhood you chose for specific reasons will make the transition of an international move more smooth. As a resident in a new country, you will be able to acclimate more easily.

Acquire the Proper Paperwork

Once you know where you are moving to, you must look into the required visas and documentation for you to become a resident.

If you are moving internationally for work purposes, it is important to communicate with your company to see if they will supply you with a work visa or permit.

If you are moving on your own and not for job relocation, then make sure you do your research for acquiring the proper documentation.

It is important to familiarize yourself with the applicable immigration laws, paperwork deadlines, and country regulations.

Formally Change your Address

Once you know the address of your new home, you will have to notify both country’s governments of your change of address.

These types of forms must be properly filled out and filed with both agencies.

Plan Your Financials

Call your bank to discuss your options about closing or transferring any existing bank accounts.

If you need to open a new one in your destination country, make sure that is set up before your arrival.

It is also important to understand the tax system of your new country so you can get an idea of what your financial situation will be as you transition internationally.

Plan your Healthcare

Look into the healthcare options of your destination country and determine if they make the most sense for you.

If you are relocating internationally with a company, connect with them to see what their international healthcare plans cover and what that would look like for you and any family relocating with you.

If you need to find a private option, do the required research to understand the health insurance companies and what is best for you.

Relocating pets

If you have a furry friend moving internationally you, it is important to coordinate their travel plans in advance. Look into any regulatory laws your destination country has about the entry of relocating pets.

Sometimes the process of animals entering a country can be longer than anticipated, so it is preferable to figure out these details early on in your moving process.

Braha cannot move animals so you will have to find a pet relocation specialist, or coordinate your pet’s move on your own.

It is recommended to first connect with your pet’s vet to discuss any suggestions they have, as well as how to prepare for your pet’s travel abroad.

Organize and Declutter

Preparing for a big move is the perfect time for a large-scale spring cleaning of your home!

Since you have to go through each room to pack all of your belongings, make it an opportunity to declutter and efficiently organize your home.

Not only will this make the moving process easier and a little faster, you can also take this time to create an inventory list for each room.

With an inventory list, Braha will be able to execute your international move with high efficiency.

How to Declutter Your Home

  • Take it a room at a time - whether your kitchen, living room, or bedroom, focus on one room at a time. This will ensure an organized inventory list for each room, as well as prevent you from getting too overwhelmed!
  • In the kitchen, consider the size of your new kitchen. Do you really need all of those coffee mugs? If you haven't used a few in a few years, maybe it's time to say goodbye to them.
  • In the living room, think about the coordination of your new home. If you have throw pillows or blankets, for example, that will not go with the aesthetic of your new home, there's no need to keep them around!
  • In bedrooms, there always seems to be old paperwork/schoolwork, scrap receipts, and miscellaneous items. Start decluttering by making a recycling pile.
  • When going through your closets, make a pile of clothes for donation that you no longer need or want to keep. Rule of thumb: if you haven't worn it in the past year - you probably don't like it.
  • Make your upcoming move easier by eliminating any extra clothes that you no longer wear!
  • In bathrooms, go drawer by drawer. Lotions, hair products, and the like seem to build up so quickly. Check to see if the ones you have had forever are even any good anymore.  If not, then give them a toss.
  • Pick out your necessary products and a few more of your favorite lotion scents.
  • Beyond that, you probably don't need them anymore. When it comes to old lip glosses and such, you definitely want to be getting rid of those!

Looking to Move?

Don't know what country is best for you?
While the United States is ranked to be among the best countries to live in, there are many countries with great advantages that could be the perfect fit for you.

If you are looking to move internationally, you must first think about what factors will pull you to a certain location:

  • Is it the type of taxpayer or healthcare system?
  • How about education?
  • Or do you simply want to live in a place that is sunny all year round?
People move for lots of reasons. Our guide to different countries and why they attract new residents may help you narrow your focus to find the perfect fit for you move abroad.

Healthcare

Norway and Switzerland are known as popular countries to move too, for the overall health of their people. With a public payer health care, they have high functioning systems, which they credit to be the reason for their countries to have high life expectancy rates.

With people living beyond 82 years old, many people view a move to Norway or Switzerland as a move for a longer life, as well.

Education

For people with education higher on their list when looking on where to move, then Australia or even Germany may the perfect fit.

Germany stands out especially for having the majority of their population holding a degree from a higher education institution.

In recent years, less than 5% of the adult population were recorded to not pursue a college education.

Want Warmer Weather?

If you are looking to escape the frigid New York winters, then countries like New Zealand or Argentina may be the perfect fit for you.

With warm temperatures and sunny days all year long, many people find themselves relocating to these countries when they are hungry for summer all year round.

On the other hand, if you love the cold weather, warm sweaters, and lots of snow, then Canada or Greenland may be the answer for you.

In addition to other strong attributes, such as Canada's strong education system, these countries are other popular choices for people looking to relocate.
